Curtis Grimes

Curtis Grimes, if yall haven’t figured out yet I like to find a tad bit of background before I began my blogs and this one actually surprised me.
Before he was a successful country music singer this young man played collegiate baseball, he only became a popular country singer after he auditioned for the voice as one of those “what do I have to lose” moments. Knowing he’s a ball player actually clears up why he has a song all about baseball, its actually my all-time favorite of his songs and I’ll drop a link in the bottom so you can laugh at it too.
He’s also from Gilmer Texas, fun fact that’s town has my grandma’s favorite Walmart, and also the closet jack in the box to my house. My mother loves Jack In the Box and freaked out when she moved to North East Texas and we didn’t have one close by.

Back to Curtis though, another of his songs that is actually one of his more well-known ones is “Irresponsible” it talks about how being irresponsible is alright ever now and then. Its got fiddle in the background so no denying this is music has East Texas roots cause lets be honest you gotta have a fiddle in the band *wink wink*. I’ve actually had the privilege of seeing him live and also getting a picture with him, also tried to buy him a drink but he said he was fine, not like I could have anyways.

A real Life Photo of me and Curtis Grimes.

Koe Wetzel and the Konvicts

Koe Wetzel, let me start by saying Koe is my favorite Texas Music Singer/Band. Not one of them but my absolute favorite rate him 10/10 every time. Now that we have that out of the way lets give em something to talk about (some of his song lyrics). So my man Koe not only is he from my area of North East Texas and his drummer Dre is actually from my good ole small town of Mt. Pleasant he and my brother Bud actually went to high school together and partied together before he was on the road. I have to date December 9,2017 been to 6 of his shows. No I am not tired of his shows, no they aren’t all the same, yes he can put on one HELL of a show. He gives back stories about songs that I laugh at every time I hear them, and I know every song he sings, I could probably tell you the set list if I tried really hard. Last time I went my friends were asking if I knew every single one of his songs, which I do, because he hadn’t played one I didn’t sing along to. He drinks beer on stage cusses l...

Cody Jinks

Cody Jinks, not your typical country singer. This guy not only doesn’t really have the “country look” his background is totally different. He was actually the lead singer in a heavy metal band for six years. From what I read it was all the way from head banging to screaming angry lyrics. Cody says in an interview that all music is dark so his transition from rock and roll to country wasn’t much of a change in lyrics just more of a change in the music styles, and that he didn’t even mean to transition to country music. In an interview he says that he just started writing music and it came out country. Even though he didn’t know how to play or even sing country music, so he actually spent time figuring out how to play and sing his own country songs. He released his first album “adobe sessions” in 2015 and its just carried on from there. Adobe Sessions is actually full of majority of my favorite songs from Cody Jinks, even though it isn’t his most popular. I wont post li...
