Cody Jinks, not your typical country singer. This guy not
only doesn’t really have the “country look” his background is totally
different. He was actually the lead singer in a heavy metal band for six years.
From what I read it was all the way from head banging to screaming angry
lyrics. Cody says in an interview that all music is dark so his transition from
rock and roll to country wasn’t much of a change in lyrics just more of a
change in the music styles, and that he didn’t even mean to transition to
country music. In an interview he says that he just started writing music and
it came out country. Even though he didn’t know how to play or even sing
country music, so he actually spent time figuring out how to play and sing his
own country songs.
He released his first album “adobe sessions” in 2015 and its
just carried on from there. Adobe Sessions is actually full of majority of my favorite
songs from Cody Jinks, even though it isn’t his most popular. I wont post links
to the entire album but I will at least post a link to ‘Mamas Song’ and ‘Loud
and Heavy’. According to my laptop alone I have listened to Mamma Song 27
times, which sounds like only a few but that’s somewhere around 135 minutes of
just that single song.
In the end he totally nails country music even if he wasn't real sure how to go about it in the beginning.
